Manic Monday

Today isn't really awful. just sorta blarghy

I am making this for dinner--right now it doesn't look to be going very well...

I am hoping to fit in a workout at the Y, even though there are three loads of laundry full on yelling at me to be folded.

Do you ever feel like your life is getting in the way of your dreams?  I'm so tired and busy, that I can't really get anything I want to get done done.

Perhaps that 7 habits book should be on my Xmas list?  Speaking of Xmas, I must have 700 or maybe just 7 windows open with Black Friday ads open.  Trying to compare prices with Amazon is making me tired.  Do you shop on Black Friday?  I used to be all about it, but last year I was in a 'working-toward-single' funk and this year is a post 'big D' funk maybe?  who knows...

We had our church thanksgiving yesterday--lots of peeps, not enough stuffing or pie!  I like to think of the turkey as merely a vehicle for the side dishes. My fav?  sweet potato anything.

Now can I blame these blahs on the tryptophan in the turkey?
I just love her joy focused or not--it's SO her :)

the dating 'scene'

Have you seen the scene lately?
it is certainly chock full o' nuts and colorful characters...

I decided to start dating after some friends encouraged me to get back out there...
How do you meet peeps today?  Well it seems like online is the way to go.
There is this site--plenty of fish--perhaps you've heard of it?
On the upside it is to-tall-eee free! It is quite aptly named, as it is a total catch and release dating plan...throwing many a fishy character back!
It's actually great for a woman on there, so many tugs at the net you cast--many lines being thrown at you--ay yi yi! And not just to be punny!

Since there are wayyyy more men on there than women, you do get your choice of all the cahrazzzeeee in your inbox.  Don't get me wrong, there are some nice peeps on there...but the majority seem to be cruising for something else...I have no idea what...winkity wink...

So a free, crazy, dating site was my welcome back into being single...yes, yes it was...

Makin' stuff

Things to know about me...

  • I love creating things, (though I try to stay away from the drahhh-mahhh creation, uh hello why I'm so happily s to the ingle!)
  •  Spending time with my glue gun after a rough day always makes me warm and fuzzy (and not just from the burns!)
  • I love Goodwill.  known around these parts as the G-Dub...
  • I have a thing for cake plates, I have at least 5...(now 8)
You have probably seen DIY cake plates on the interwebz?  Where some skinny glass vase or cup type thing is glued to a glass serving dish or plate
Here's my version...

started like this...
but flipping the base over meant I could put fun stuff inside!

put the glass plate upside down
apply my 'boi-toi'  aka hawt glue to the piece that will be the base

stick the two pieces together and allow to dry!

eat and be merry during dry time

continue these steps to make more cake plates...

put fun and festive items in bases

this base is deckled and the red bell just makes it look fun and funky--love!

You could totally use them for any holiday--think eggs, flags, ghosts oh I can.not.wait!  Tomorrow i must make a cake...

Btw...
All three are made for less than $5!

Lookie Lookie

I got these from a BOY!  And not the one that lives in my house!  Aren't they lovely...

I'm thinking I should blog about my dating adventures, it's certainly entertaining...thoughts?

Random week in Review

We got some pumpkins!  yay!  I love those big orange orbs! Since it's too early to carve them, they became an art project...so funny...
she painted all.over.herself...I think there may still be some purple in her hair...

she has figured out how to take pics with my iPhone :)

This is the one she took! Isn't it nice?!
they are now the 'centerpiece' on our table where we craft, because there's no room to...eat
I like to think of these pumpkins as art--yanno Avant Gourde ;)

we watched Toy Story (and ignored the laundry)

Lookie Lookie!  We got some bunnies!
We actually got two sister (phew to no babies!) bunnies.  Really I should say rabbits, because they are two big girls. A good friend works at Petco where they had been given up, so we adopted them!
I am a little crazy I think, there are now 3 of the under-18 set and 3 of the four-legged set in the house. And I'm the only one that is neither! Yikes, am I outnumbered or what?  Who signed me up for this single adult thing!?
(wanna feed my Evita-esque ego and be a follower? sign up right over there----->
and I'll give you candy or stickers or something!)

Road Trip

We got up early to drive through the desert.  The kids were all excited to get on the road.  I was surprised how they all got ready so quickly. We had a tasty breakfast at the truck stop Flyin' Js at the border...it's where we stop everytime and fill up.  Funny how people are such creatures of habit isn't it?  Really though, the bathrooms are clean and there are choices of drinks and snacks for all.
One thing I'm excited for is our new family mascot or where's waldo or Sarah-Jules the duck...she's some lovely resin yard art that I picked up at Lowe's to go globe-trotting with us..well at least amusement park hopping :) So expect to see her in quite a few pics from our vacay!

The drive wasn't too painful, we got off the 'planned route' for about 10 minutes, but there's always some way back to a freeway in Cali. As a side note, boy howdy does my boy child need to work on his navigation skillz, they are enough to make you mad...the pitfalls of GPS, he's never really had to read a map in his 15 years!
Our room wasn't ready on arrival so we left our luggage and went into the park.
First order of business? The new Ariel ride of course! The teen threesome had already made their departure for the fun and fast rides.
I love how Disney does all the styling of rides so well
I think I should do this in my house somewhere...thoughts?

I was tired from driving alone (one point for the ugh-ness of single parenting) but walking around with the little ladies was actually really fun.

We hit up some rides, played in the water...so much for not getting the stitches wet. (side note- frown for no pool time)...

we were super excited to meet Mulan!  We love her movie so much--moms of daughters, there is some great girl power in that flick, so remember to put it in your movie wheelhouse!

The kid section of California Adventure wasn't terribly crowded, we did almost all the rides in less than an hour--love that!

always climbing

this face just cracks me up
we had a great first (half) day in the park...not too crowded, just a wee bit hot and going at our own pace.

Entitlement of the S in Me

Funny how when I was typing that I didn't realize it would spell Sin!  hahaha

What I mean by it is that as a Single mom, I think I should get certain things entitled to me.  Like little get out of jail free cards--or maybe really big get out of jail free cards!  First, let's discuss all things timely.

I am a big believer in being on time.  I hate to wait I hate to be late.  I am always telling the offspring hurry hurry, we're late we're late for a very important date.  But really instead of being a crazy white rabbit hopping around after three kids that are suddenly turtles, I think that when I arrive at said destination 10-15 minutes later than planned--I should get to hand over my little 'freebie late' card with a grin and a click of my heels...

Emmy went to her first sleepover for a little girl's pirate birthday party.  The invitation stated to please pick-up your child by 10a the next day. I arrived at 956a.  Not so bad right? Of course, she was the last one there! And I had to apologize to the lovely parents that were probably quite fried from having 5 four to six year olds in their house for many hours...

And then there is the arriving someplace where Lilly the bean doesn't have her shoes on or her hair brushed...the card would be the perfect thing, no words necc...

within 5 minutes of arriving at this event she was trying to be the streaker she was born to be, luckily I convinced her to keep the shorts on...I need a card for clothing optional as well I suppose...

Or maybe, I could stop worrying about being on time and just arrive like the celebrity I was meant to be ;) Speaking of late, I'm late.right.nooooowwww!
